We've been hearing from many sources that Samsung will shift focus to midrange phones and tablets next year,
as that's where the highest growth is expected then. The flagship
market is nearing its point of saturation everywhere, while tablets and
convertibles are becoming people's main computing devices in lieu of
traditional PCs.
To reiterate those rumors, an
insider has spilled the beans about Samsung's alleged tablet plans,
saying that it will start the new year with a bang, releasing no less
than four slates in Q1. One of those will be the market share
warrior Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T111).
The other three are likely to be the Super AMOLED tablets we heard about, the 12" Galaxy Note ((SM-P900) slate, and also eventually a 13.3-inch convertible
that might be dual-boot Windows and Android, if Samsung has managed to
iron out the patent infringement kinks that prevented the ATIV Q
from launch. In any case, those are all expected to be announced early
2014, which means we might see them as soon as Samsung's alleged event
around the MWC, which starts at the end of February. Samsung's not
had a good tablet year in 2013.
